“When he had received the sour wine, Jesus said “It is finished.” Bowing his head he, gave up his life” John 19:30
When the words “It is finished” (John 19:30) is normally uttered it expresses a feeling of relief, satisfaction and triumph. When Jesus said these words, it was not whispered as a gasp of a dying man but rather he shouted in triumph. It is a shout of a person who has completed a very difficult task.
Through his triumphant words “It is finished!” the Lord has assured us that the things necessary for our salvation has been completed.
We cannot do anything more to earn our salvation. It has already been completed by Jesus on the cross.
Yes, the word finished is the same as PAID IN FULL. Jesus came to finished God’s work of salvation to pay the full penalty for our sins. With his death the complex sacrificial system for forgiveness ended because JESUS TOOK ALL SIN UPON HIMSELF.
Now we freely approach God because of what Jesus did for us. Not by your righteousness but by Jesus sacrifices you have been saved. Yes, these words, “It is finished” is a shout of triumph signifying Jesus has overcome all barriers. He is saying, it is done! Your passport to life eternal has already been paid. Just take it through your faith in Jesus who paid it for you.
Yes, we remember today the words of Jesus on the cross saying and assuring us that He has already paid in full our ticket and passport to eternal life.
So, He invites us today to believe His assurance of salvation by faith; accept and receive him as our Savior and Lord of our lives. if you have not done it before, today is the day of your salvation, believe in His words and accept Him as the Savior and Lord of your life. Lift your hands in silent prayer, saying “I believe in you Lord, I accept you as my Savior and Lord”
To the present believers and disciples of our Lord, it is good, proper and with thanksgiving to re-affirm your faith, trust and commitment to Jesus as our Savior and Lord by lifting your hands in silent prayer.
Praise the Lord. Amen and Amen!
Of course this words of the Lord has assured us that things necessary for our salvation has been completed by our Lord. We cannot do anything to earn our salvation. It has already been completed by Jesus on the cross. Not by your righteousness but by his sacrifices you have been saved.
Now these words, “It is finished” is a shout of triumph signifying he has overcome all barriers. He is saying, it is done!
What Jesus has done is an example for all his disciples to desire to complete all works began to completion. As Jesus has given his all, including seeking the help of his heavenly father to complete his work, we too are challenged by his example to complete the work god has given us to do, personally, as a family and as a church. There are two things as a church we have began that needs to be completed by us with God’s help: One is to complete our church building Cathedral which is progressing to completion, and then is the work we have began in Toril. We can only say that our mission work in Toril when they have been organized into a chartered local church. On that day, we can say with triumph, IT IS FINISHED! THAT DAY IS NOT VERY FAR AWAY.
